Girls Not Brides Member

In 2018 Founder and Executive Director Maryam Montague shared Soar in a Box with organizations and girls’ rights defenders from all over the world at the Girls Not Brides Global Meeting in Malaysia in June. Project Soar has also been featured multiple times on Girls Not Brides social media as an organization “working to combat early marriage and motherhood in Morocco.”

2019 With and For Girls Award

In 2019 Project Soar became the large prize winner of the With and For Girls Awards in the Education and Leadership category. This award recognizes “exceptional local organisations working on the frontlines to create a world where girls’ rights and wellbeing are recognised, respected and realised.”

2023 Girls Opportunity Alliance

In 2023, Project Soar joined the Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, that seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education. Project Soar has long been a supporter of Michelle Obama’s work to empower teen girls; in 2016, the Soar Solution was recognized by Mrs. Obama as a part of her Let Girls Learn Initiative, with Project Soar staff and beneficiaries invited to the White House, and referenced in We Will Rise, CNN’s girls’ empowerment documentary about Mrs. Obama.

Planète Genre: A Card Game to Spotlight Gender and Climate Issues

Planète Genre is a card game created by CARE FRANCE, le GRET, le GERES, FRANCE VOLONTAIRES, and BPW France and it demonstrates seven households in order to encourage conversations regarding the circumstances they face. Since the relationships between gender and climate often overlap, this game can be used to reflect and grow an understanding of these issues. This includes how men and women contribute to adaptation and mitigation strategies in various contexts as well as the differences in vulnerabilities and barriers that need to be overcome.
